  • thanks for the video made it easier to tie boots as my instruction sheet went missing.

I have taipan boots; very similar but have a little hook at the bottom of the zip which your boots don't have....shouldn't make any difference if I don't use it should it??

  • @nblmfld: if the laces are tied in well to the boot zippers, then using the hook should not make a difference.

  • Yeah when I brush I use loadddss of polish lol. I have a slyvet which is good yes? It is just annoying when I have to spend hours bulling them lol

  • @broandme: Thin coats of polish applied with a terry cloth (not a brush) are the only way to apply polish correctly to get a decent shine. In this case, more is not better.

  • Ok thanks for the quick reply's. You have been very helpful to me. I need new brushes mine are just getting caked with polish now.

  • @broandme if your brushes are getting caked with polish, you are using waaaay too much polish. Use a very very thin coat applied with a terry cloth. The thinner the coat of polish, the better shine you will get, though you may have to reapply polish in thin coats two or three times to get a good shine.

  • @broandme. I just use Kiwi and elbow grease, as well as a very good brush. If you follow my instructions on using a double-lace loop to hold the boot zippers in, then they stay tight. I have a pair of these boots with a zipper installed for 4 years, and they're still tight and haven't required any adjustments.

  • Ha ha what quick shine? when I have tried kiwi it doesn't do much :S Also I will check with the boss :P For cadets I don't think it would be to much of an issue, with the zips does it stay nice and tight whilst wearing like they don't come loose or anything?

  • @broandme: I don't think boot zippers are allowed in Army policy, but check with your C.O. Thanks for the compliments on the boot shine -- it's easy to keep these boots looking good with a quick shine now and then.

  • Would you recommend zips, I am a Army Cadet and it is so annoying when I have to tie the laces because my new boots are really hard to get tight.

Also are your boots just shiny or did you do them yourself? They look nice :)
