Is the rise of terrorism and violence justifiably traced to the teachings of Islam, or is this call to war a twisted interpretation of the true Muslim faith? Most of the world's 1.5 billion Muslims are moderates who see Islamic terrorism as a violation of their sacred texts. Is it wrong to let a radical minority represent authentic Islam? Has fear blinded us to its lessons of tolerance and peace?

  • Ayaan Hirsi Ali is sexy!

  • @UnitedUmmahinshAllah Islam in the middle east would more than likely vanish if women had an uprising for their rights. Enjoy your little boys club. I will never follow a prophet that took a wife at 6, and consummated it with her at 9 when he was in his 50's. That as well as the fact that bacon taste FUCKING GREAT!

  • @Rabsputin Now now, he created her voice to TEST us. I think Widdecombe appeared to Job to harp on about something to him in one of the final stages before he cursed the day he was born.

  • @Rabsputin oh i am, but i can be equally concerned with all extremist that believe in a sky daddy.

  • @Enginmaster i completely agree, and the debate on catholicism was a cracker. mind you, ann widdecombe's voice should be the only proof people need that the abrahamic deity (or any other for that matter) doesn't exist.

  • @Rabsputin Well most americans are concerned with that too. The American taliban if you will. The intelligence^2 debates also covered is Catholicism a force for good. (resounding no from the audience after the points were presented) And judging by poll numbers, evangelicals would fare worse on a similar debate. Religions are a way of allying yourself with something on the basis of gullibility, rather than reason. It tends to be bad. Humanism, otoh, is always a force for good.

  • It is my contention that the nature of “truth” is what makes it distinguished from what is false. And the results of this debate reflect that fact. Truth prevails ;O)

  • @MsRobotRock as an american woman, you should be more concerned with the enemy within, the evangelicals.

  • There are good people out there, in every religion. However, whether they are truly following the religion or not is none of my concern. What I do feel concerned about is when people come out and protest against things or do horrific acts in the name of their religion. Islam has gained a lot of press for the 9/11 attacks as well as the murders of people who simply burned their holy book.

I'm an atheist and an anti-theist. I hate all religions, but not the people within them.

  • hey they can believe what they want, i am not anti theist. but if they are endangering my rights and well being an american woman then we have problems. religion should keep to themselves and be more open minded that others are not like them, but it is our differences and empathy that can make this short life we live just a little less shitty. i love individuals, i hate ignorance.

  • It is important to note that religions ARE politics. Religions control ad effect people's lives and mental states. It is stupid to blame fundumentalist behavior on politics, because religions were politics. They were created to control a population.

  • Started with lies. I have more respect for people who actually follow their religion, than these people who follow only the good parts.
