HOUMA, La. - A fleet of vessels span out around the site of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill, in an offensive strategy aimed at controlling the spread of oil, Tuesday, June 8, 2010. Attacking the spill on the surface, vessels skim thick oil from the top of the water and pump it into barges. Others, using fire-resistant containment boom, collect the oil into pockets and burn it offshore. U.S. Coast Guard video by Petty Officer 1st Class Luke Pinneo.

@fukinzeppelinman I'm not in denial. There is definitely a huge problem. What I'm saying is not having kids is an overly simplified answer to a complex problem. You can not have kids your entire life and for every one of you there will be someone having 4-8 kids. What I'm saying is even if we cut the number of people in half we would still have half the problem. Doing less bad isnt good and unless we can take responsibility for our consumption we will continue to have a problem 6 billion or not.

@150133 Well considering the fact that very few people have heard of those, I doubt it'll catch on. It also doesn't cover food.
Overpopulation is a big issue. I'm not saying the government should put a ban on how many children you should have, but it kinda should be considered. We just have too many people and not enough resources.
If we colonized some other planet people could continue their "taker" lives, but we can't go to Mars to live there. So we need to actually think about these issues.

@fukinzeppelinman Instead of a depopulation plan why don't we go with a renewable resource like water? Ever heard of a water fuel cell? The second the government steps in and starts regulating how many children we have, then the end of life will be near. God said spread out and fill this earth with your seeds. Overpopulation is bullshit, If you want a government to tell you how many kids to have, Move to fucking China asshole...

With population regulation maybe the human race would still get to have as many kids as it wanted but spaced out over time to keep pace with what the planet could sustain. The current model (have as many as you want, it's all good) is too fast and clogging the system and as a result we have unchecked disease, famine, drought, extinctions and now this. and all of it is in the face of the fact that we know how to fix most of it but simply can't keep up because of our birth rate.

The equation is as follows, more people more oil rigs and more oil rigs means more oil ruptures. The concept of reproductive rights needs to be re-examined and discussed through a sober lens where knee jerk words like fascism are kept at bay. Would you try to fit 600 people in a airplane designed to only hold 300?. Of course you wouldn't but then why do we try to fit almost 7 billion into a world only big enough for 3 billion. (cont.)
