It's amazing how completely you missed my point. Their ancestors came from elsewhere, but the Welsh culture as it exists today, just like that of the Picts and other British 'natives' developed after they had settled in the islands. I'm not saying they magically appeared in GB, but they are the only remaining descendents of original settlers who have retained their cultural distinctness and can be reasonably said to be from the same ethnic group as those settlers.

You need to work on your reading compression. The Welsh are the only group of British Celts that haven't been either wiped out or absorbed by other ethnic groups. Yes, there were people living in Britain long before the Welsh had any singular identity, but those groups are all long gone. The Welsh are the oldest surviving unique culture that developed from within Britain.
