I love Rachmaninoff's songs. They're married well with the lyrics, and despite being very challenging technically they're also very rewarding when sung well. I love "Ne poj, krasavitsa" - probably because I've been away from my home-town for the better part of a decade now. On the other hand I love "Zdes' khorosho" too, because when sung right it becomes very haunting. Here it is sung by the wonderful Anna Netrebko, who displays a beautiful rubato to suggest the wistful nature of the song.

This recording is from her 2006 oeuvre "Russian Album".
