Leave comments, tell me what you think!

Here I compare the difference between the PS3 and 360's loudness while being turned on and while playing games.

The 360 is clearly the loudest and the PS3 is silent.

The 360 is the Pro version with a 120GB hard drive that I bought seperately and a BenQ DVD drive. Its from April 2008.

The PS3 is the 40GB model from December 2007.

  • So I'm just asking do you think that liking a couple more months my system might crash

I'm really interested on hearing your thoughts but like I said it's been working pretty okay

Except for in oh the normal glitching every once in awhile when I play fallout 3

But that's to be expected but I'm really interested in what you think might happen

if I do this for too long

  • @tucker21222 Well I'm just trying to help you out here, I don't want to see your system die on you if you can prevent it and I think it will die a lot quicker if you are running it upside down. You should do some research I'm not just making this up, you really shouldn't run the system upside down. I think it wont last as long as it can if you used it normally, why don't you get an extra fan pointed at it if you are concerned about the heat.

  • You've got a good point but each time I do this the fan does not go to full speed Intel I launched a game

The one thing you got to take in consideration is a 60 gig was designed a little bit differently

Then a lot of the rest of the systems

The fans do not stay at full speed for ever I would say probably about half speed

At the xmb and full speed once the game is started

For instance when I'm playing GTA 4 it gets really loud

And when I quit the game the fans slowdown

  • @tucker21222 Well yes that makes complete sense, on the XMB the system is idle doing nothing so it wont be producing that much heat, in a game it's going to use a lot more power and push the system harder causing it to get hotter and spin the fans faster. Trust me you are not supposed to run your system upside down.

  • I don't know I saw a another video where somebody mod about their system

With a fan controller to make the fans spin faster and it was cooler

The way I figure it is the fans spin really fast and blow all the hot air out the back

So far this is work for me I've been running my system for about two months

This way and it seems to work and the PlayStation 3 actually has an internal sensor

that will tell you if the PlayStation is getting too hot a message will appear

and your system will shut off

  • @tucker21222 When you turn the PS3 upside down the hot air, rather than being blown out of the top or the side as it usually would, is still caught in the machine. The increased fan speed is the PS3 responding to this trapped hot air, trying to blow it out. Think about it, why would it increase the fan speed if it wasn't getting hot...

  • I think you are right I probably should do a lot more research

That's why I like watching these videos

I really appreciate intelligent thought so thanks

for the helpful advice and four the conversation

it's always good to hear so thanks

  • I know you're not trying to tell me what to do or trying to criticize me

And I will definitely take what you have to say into consideration

I would like my system to last for a very long time to

especially when the only good games I can play are on my PS3

so I think as soon as I get a chance I might just

did some type of other cooling solution

that way I don't run my fan motor out

    that's a possibility to
