After reading Bart Ehrman's excellent book "Misquoting Jesus" I simply had to try and summarise it. I have not covered every point Bart raised nor could ever hope to in a few videos, and I am sure many of the additional issues will be highlighted in the comments below.

  • I would take Pet Sematary. I can read that forever. That's always been my favorite book. Even when I was small and it scared me silly.

  • @Satanicallyfree That's one of the creepiest movies I have ever watched.

  • What language was the Bible written in ? English ?

  • @hopeso The earliest manuscripts we have are written in Greek.

  • wouldn't this "theory" of yours apply to the words and meanings in your video? circular logic leads you around in circles.

  • @th86stone Sure - if people download, interpret, change, and redistribute my video.

But seriously, it is not surprise the scribes altered the texts - we ALL do it inherently as part of the reading process. We all interpret the symbols on the page, but this does not detract from the fact the words have changed, thus the meaning.

  • Reagan was an idiot

  • "I was asked once what book I would choose if I were shipwrecked on an island and could only have one book for the rest of my life. I replied.........the bible"

Personally, I would have gone with the 'Deserted Island Survival Guide'.

  • I agree with that opening guy. You can read the Bible over and over again and still not figure out what the hell it's trying to say.

  • Anybody here considering reading Aristotle's Politics or Ethics while shipwrecked and marooned?

  • I like the direction of this video; although the are some archeological facts/discoveries that should be addressed. Like the dead sea scrolls; 800 yrs of unaltered text is pretty amazing, when you take in to account of the whole "word of mouth"/"Chinese whispers"; which in this case proved to be reliable since the context/words haven't been changed. Well I'm off to see pt 2

  • Thank you Jesus for giving up your glory to serve us unworthy humans, so that we might not perish but have everlasting life

Thank you because your word is has the most fulfilled prophesies 500+ and right now we see how your word is becoming true.

You will judge us, not according to our acts so that no one is glorified but according to our obedience and faith. People who know you know that you are so real and amazing. You are the best thing that has ever happen to those who truly know you

  • I would pick a book on how to build a boat.

  • I've always found it baffling and frustrating that fundamentalists ascribe modern sensibilities on ancient writings.

Never mind the whole "word of mouth" aspect; alegory and symbolism were the norm, plagarism wasn't frowned upon, indeed it was expected, and the line between history and myth almost didn't exist.

Take Any of the arguments they use for the validity of the Bible and they can be equally applied to Homer's the Iliad or the Odyssey (which have more historical accuracy).

  • @askegg

I've never understood people why English speakers think the bible is the word of G-d? Its so dumb.

Its difficult to follow in Ivrit let alone English, its very disjointed. So I am an antisemite semite (my dry humour).

Love my peoples RIGHT to exist and my land and democracy but I hate lack of expression!

  • @askegg not that I believe in god, just an analogy.

  • @askegg I don't like the movie. The book exceeds the movie to such a great extent the book is god and the movie is a cockroaches crap.
