Alan Thicke is one of Canadian entertainment's greatest success stories. A proud son of Kirkland Lake, Ontario, he began his career as a writer at the CBC, and went on write and produce TV shows for the likes of Bill Cosby, Kenny Rogers and Barry Manilow. Moving in front of the camera, he hosted a popular daytime talk series in Canada in the early 1980s, and soon after became a familiar face on U.S. network television. Best known as the dad on Growing Pains (and as the real-life father of singer Robin Thicke), he is also the author of two best-selling humour books, How to Raise Kids Who Won't Hate You and How Men Have Babies.
Kirkland Lake? Yea me too,. skated on the frozen mine tailings in October,..nets were a mile apart,. smooth ice other than the "moose pot holes". Growing up in the 50s & 60s was like "back to the future", after school grabbing your fishing gear and walk down to the lake for the late night catch.
Everybody knew everybody and the doors were never locked.
