Shows a truly weird bird a ring-neck turkey vulture/buzzard -- having a white ring around its neck such that it looks like a ring-necked pheasant. This ring-neck buzzard has been seen and photographed several times over a period of time. Another video of it is: Strange, Weird Animal Ringneck Buzzard, at
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sVMTldIsKiQ

Also shows an unusually large red-tailed hawk.

At the end, a hawk flies away. The video shows the density found in some places of hawks and buzzards. The hawk passes 1 or 2 other hawks (one is perched in a tree behind it). It also flies past 4 or 5 turkey vultures, in the short distance of its flight.

Hawks and buzzards are sometimes competitors, however there is little doubt about who is dominant. Video shows Hawks and buzzards at the same food source, however when a hawk is around, only it dines.

  • WOW.. Really?? The bright read tail didn't give you a hint that it might just be a red-tailed hawk? And yes people, that's what it is.

bheemabachus... never seen anything like that. The first thing that came to mind was a Kestrel but those are little. A caracara maybe if your in Arizona?

  • The strange creature is the ring-neck turkey vulture, not the red tailed hawk.

  • Hmm, I just don't see the strange creature I guess. I see vultures, then an immature (baby) red-tailed hawk (striped tail feathers) then the adult RT hawk (red tail) and more vultures.

  • Look at the turkey vulture's neck in the first part. It has a white ring around it like a pheasant. I have some other photos of it and will see if I can find them.
