Occupy Barstow

Attorney Robert Conaway talks about Desert Dispatch's advertising dollars compromising their coverage.

Occupy Barstow was not intended to be a protest of the Desert Dispatch or the parent company Freedom Communications. Occupy Barstow started at Barstow City Hall and ended at the Desert Dispatch office witch was and is normally closed on weekends. The Desert Dispatch office was chosen to help get the event coverage. Desert Dispatch was notified of the event in advance.

  • And who do you think owns these 'corporations' that are spoken about in your video?

    Answer: Government officials.

DABIGRAGU1 is correct... ALL politicians need to be fired.

And as I said before... why don't you go stand outside the windows of the Desert Dispatch when they are OPEN? That way when you talk about them they would have the ability to defend themselves. I see how you got that dig in right at the end. Is that why you did this on Saturday?

  • @SharonMastin As far as the dig on Desert Dispatch you would have to ask Robert Conaway about that. The video was edited in order of interviewed and Robert Conaway was the last person to be interviewed. The day of the event was chosen to accommodate the attendees. Occupy Barstow was not a protest against the Desert Dispatch. The Desert Dispatch was notified in advance and choose not to show up. I understand it was your day but it was our day off as well.

  • @SharonMastin If I understand you correctly Mitchell Stern the CEO of Freedom Communications is a government official?

  • @SharonMastin I am curious does the Desert Dispatch dispute the claim made by Robert Conaway?

  • You don't even know what Occupy Wall Street was for and the next time you decide to do a show like this why not do it when the offices are OPEN??? so people can see you and talk to you. Or did you just do this so no one could prove you are wrong?

  • @SharonMastin You or anyone else is more than welcome to respond to the video in writing or in a video interview. All written responses will be published as submitted.

  • @MojaveFreePress I can't speak for the Desert Dispatch or any other business in Barstow. The problem I have is that Robert Conaway would say something that he knows nothing about. I've seen many articles in the Desert Dispatch about PG&E and other companies, too. If I could post URL's here I would.

  • @MojaveFreePress we all know that the media is controlled by the government, but I meant the big corporations of America as a whole.

  • @MojaveFreePress I can understand the need to use a day people had off, but maybe someone needed to edit the video a little better as the last part seemed very deliberate.

  • @SharonMastin Thank you for viewing the video and your response. I am not sure who the comment is directed at. I Charles Waybright am the one who shot the video. I understood that the Desert Dispatch would be closed the day of the event, but stories are covered on Saturday such as the Tea Party events. I covered this event and the parade on my day off for no pay. Scott Shackford was notified on Oct. 16 and the Desert Dispatch ran an article a couple of days prior to the event.
