The U.S. release was heavily cut to earn an "R" rating rather than an "X". Among the cut material: the opening slit throat, a good deal of blood in the village massacre. Also, in the first warehouse fight Van Damme is first fighting one guy and then suddenly he's not fighting anyone anymore (soon before the girl throws a villain down the big pit), the guy he was fighting vanishes, his death scene was likely cut.

We're in the same holding pattern for the rock opera version of Cyborg as MGM resolves its financial status. But the free Cyborg bonus in the North America Limited DVD Edition of "Tales of an Ancient Empire" will have to suffice until late 2010 or early 2011. Foreign will not have the feature length Cyborg extra. That's made available by permission from MGM in North America only. The extra will show how the Cyborg Opera version differs from the 1989 release.

@Trollhelltown apparently you'll actually see the wood or bamboo get jammed in the guys mouth. the still picture had to be used for the same reason you can't see tits or hear the f'bomb in america on tv.
