may I ask what the white material you carved the base of the weapon out of is? I'm working on a sniper rifle of my own and have used wood for years. Searching for other options lol

Elmer's foam board; the same thing those school project trifolds are made out of.

Really? I would have never guessed that. Do you coat the carved base in something so it wont be so brittle?

Nope. Foam board is actually really ridgid.
