Steven Contreras, aka Victor Rodriguez, 24, appears May 13 for an arraignment in a Reno courtroom on charges related to a Mother's Day shooting in Washoe Valley.


Contreras is being held without bail in the Washoe County Jail on suspicion of first-degree murder and attempted murder. He is suspected of fatally shooting Carson teen Rene Angulo and wounding Wayne Nash, 51, after Nash stopped to help Sunday afternoon on Highway 395 in Washoe Valley.

Contreras fled in Angulo¹s Honda Accord and ditched the car on Old Highway 395. Police found him naked and hiding in the brush.

A preliminary hearing has been set for May 27.

this isn't easy for either family at the end they both lost someone for good. The pain that one family has is the same pain the other family feels. My prayers go out to both families i feel bad for both of them. I went to school with Victor and never knew him to be a bad person he was always full of life and happy and smiling all the time cracking jokes and to see this video he looks lost with no recognition of what is going on around him. god bless both families. my prayers go out to them both
