Starting late in the day on June 30, 2011, a series of thunderstorms swept over Chicago and pummeled northwest Indiana and western Michigan. The storms fired up over Lake Michigan and continued to spawn well into July 1.

This piece is a time lapse video of still images that I compiled over a 12-hour period from my apartment. It captures a portion of the storms sweeping over Chicago and then in the distance, the storms firing up over the lake.

The footage was captured with a Panasonic Lumix GH1 camera using an external timer and a vintage Wollensak 1/2" C-mount lens for a Bolex camera.

  • lovee!! what song is this????

  • @SunKissedReese Thanks! The song is an original composition entitled "Secrets" and off of my first album ("Before Time" by "Thirty Second Complex" on iTunes). I composed and recorded it in a weekend ... there's quite a bit of emotional energy behind the piece, which seemed appropriate for the imagery in this video.
