Thats the big problem, the world tries to live in the fairy tale paradigm that men and women are equal in everyway, which clearly is not true. We are different in physical and mental capabilities and much more.
I am a man that always supports the "Different, but equal" ideology.
Men and women should be respected for their differences and their strengths.
I for one think more women should be in combat, and to fix many of the problems of this issue is to make same sex combat units.

I agree that affirmative action has wrought unfair consequences on men but you miss a very large point.
Men are very unequal to women now. There have always been differences (I would personally prefer to be a women before they got the vote. I wouldn't be forced to go off and fight/be killed solely because of my gender)
but now women have all the same rights and many more than men do not.

I guess that's kind of the point I was trying to make, but maybe didn't make it clear?
Men and women will ALWAYS be different. Giving women special treatment (i.e. more rights) just because of their gender, is just as wrong as treating them badly because of their gender. Men and women should be treated equally, but differently. They have different roles.
