I wonder... can the first poochyena in the 3rd Gen games be shiny, because that would suck... because at that point you have no pokeballs....

Yes, it can.
It happened a total of 4 times to me X_X
3 times when I was SRing for Torchic, and once after I lost my first Shiny Treecko, and before I found my new one.

I have videos from 3 of the 4 Poochys.

whats the point in chaining does it help you get a better chance of see a shiny of that pokemon?

That's right, the higher the chain, the more likely it is to see a shiny patch, and thus, a shiny pokemon. At 40, the chance stops increasing.

i have a shiny Roselia.. which i ran into by accident. But i have no luck with chaining. The best chain i ever got was a Ponyta chain of 13.. **sigh** :(

the only shiny pokemon i had was red gyradose n a shiny rose pokemon.

Shiny grass, seems like that would make things easier. only shiny I have ever gotten was a rattata in my old crystal. sucks gameboy pokemon can't be switched to gamebotadvance/ds games.
