  • Not since the death of Berta has Guiding Light said goodbye to so beloved a character. Although the show got a year's worth of mileage of storyline out of Maureen's death, it was a bad decision for the show. Maureen was the anchor of the Bauers, who had been the focus of GL since 1948. Without a core moral compas, the show has just drifted for 15 years. I used to skip school to tune in, and after VCR's were invented, wore my timer out. Now there's nothing worth taping anymore. Too bad.

  • Where was Fletcher? He loved Maureen.

  • Loved the acapella!

  • I agree with Bill, Michelle should have gotten to go to the cemetery. I wonder if Fletcher is thinking about Mauve and if Billy is thinking of Mindy's mother. It's nice to see Ed and Ross get to actually be best friends and them not just talk about it.

  • I agree--as you said, not only was she the anchor of the Bauer clan but the moral anchor of the entire canvas. While the show featured some great acting up until the end, it NEVER recovered from the death of Maureen. Couple that with Beverlee McKinsey leaving a few months prior to the the firing of Ellen Parker and you have arguably two of the most irreparable mistakes ever made by any soap in such a short span of time. And for that you can thank soap legacy killer Jill Farren Phelps.

  • I always thought that Bill, really favoried Billy/Jordan Clarke. Maybe is the hair...LOL

  • Then she ended up dumping all her kids in boarding school.

  • Yeah, she grew up a little. My mom always told me that you don't understand till you have your own. Well, I don't have any children (in the normal sense), but I understand more now that I teach. I would do anything for those kids.

  • Poor Blake, she didn't know what to do with the kids. LOL.

  • Oh this brings back so many emotions!
