This is a Tutorial on how to record your Desktop.

This will work with any Ubuntu that you want to record your screen for personal uses and to show your cool effects on Youtube of Compiz and Beryl.

You must have a good Graphics card. Just to let you know cause your graphics may go slow cause it's recording your desktop and it might lag a tad bit cause you need a good graphics card.

Follow the video on how to get it and use it.

  • Nice tutorial. I just have two questions....

I don't know how to stop recording it, the red button at the top of the panel does it, but I don't have that button when I record (The red circle at the top bar when your recoding) And how do you zoom in and out?

  • @Jontheking100 Okay. To record. You have to open up the program and click record. To stop, simply click on the "STOP" button, by clicking on it (Square Icon at the top right).

To zoom in and out. You must have "EXTRA" Effects enabled in "Change Desktop Background".

Press Command/Start Button Keyboard Key and Scroll in with the mouse Scroll Button.

    =)

  • At first it was pretty good but than gtk-RecordmyScreen started lagging like hell

  • @mkextremerTV Dude, Seriously haha. It actually depends on your Graphics Card. What's your Specifications of it?

  • @MicroHelper

ive got the same problem as mkextremerTV, that shit lags my entire desktop and i can barley move the mouse around.

    my setup:

    recording at 1920 x 1080

    Amd Phenom 940 BE

    2 hd4870 in crossfire

same setup is able to record smooth videos in windows using camstudio :/

  • @Jumbomasters I am very sorry it is not working for you. Is your graphics card ATI or Nvidia?. Cause Ubuntu has a lot of bugs.
