Arpeggio Section from the first part of "The Glass Prison", Reflection.

It is still a little bit sloopy, maybe in the future I'll record this one again.

I left a little bit of the camera's audio into the mix so it gave a little ambience to the audio. Nice effect. The guitar was plugged line-in passing through Amplitube and Guitarhack's Impulses.
To create the backtrack, I recorded the bass, and also programmed the drums and a synth simulating the rhythm guitar.

  • @MatheusManentee i also find it awesome that your fingers are literally a blur in this video :)

  • @baaaarnsey It was a bad camera actually... lol hehe!

  • holy fuck! that was amazing, and very reassuring. it shows that a mortal can play this. the only thing i would say though is to try to use sweep picking rather than alternate on this. you could injure yourself (like the previous guy said) :) but overall...wow!

  • @baaaarnsey Thank you so much! That's a good tip. But the fact is, Petrucci himself recorded the arpeggios with alternate picking, not sweep... So this is actually the "right" way of playing this piece. I accept the challenge, hehe! And It's close enough. (I hope)

  • That kind of motion will hurt you at those speeds. Try to make the less movement posible. Less movement is more speed and more acuracy (more even! :D). It sounds really clean. I love this arpeggios for sweeping!

  • @112358miau Sure, the principle of least effort. I still need to improve my technique a lot... But it's working. Thanks for the tips and for the comment!
