February 14, 2010: Pete at Star Ranch Sanctuary, who is in charge of the Barn Owl cam, climbs up the tree to spray the pesky ants with a water-detergent solution. He also moves the camera a little and counts the babies: FIVE!

When M/M Barn Owl return, Dad brings a small rodent. Right before he leaves, he moves the rat. Guess he didn't appreciate Pete's moving it. ;)

  • What I wouldn't give to have a job like this! Barn Owls have always been my favourite birds, and working closely with wild ones would be just awesome. I see you disproved the common myth that if you touch a baby bird, it'll be rejected by the parents. Quite a big clutch, 7, but I've read of cases where 11 eggs have been laid! Very rare, undeniably, but imagine feeding all those chicks!

  • @NeidalRuekk Father is kept very busy feeding his mate, his babies, and himself!

  • That is incredible footage! I love how the owls take such great care with their young

  • @SuzetteJade They take very good care of their babies! Father works almost non-stop, bringing mice and rats to the hungry youngsters. He just keeps going and going...

  • The youngest owlet died tonight, March 6, around 11 PM :(

  • HOLD THE PHONE! Seven babies have been spotted! So, all eggs have now hatched!
