  • I have nothing against Steve but I always liked Stan better on the kit.

  • I thought Stan Lynch was awesome and was an integral part of the Heartbreakers. I first saw Tom Petty live in 1980 and saw my fourteenth Heartbreakers show a year or so ago here in Kansas City. I always thought that TP & the HB's were an underrated live band. I'd put them up against Springsteen & The E Street band (love them too) in their prime. This particular performance is scorching and indicative of Petty at his rocking best. Man, those 80's Petty shows were simply incredible.

Very underrated!! At least it made it onto that Anthology double cd. I've just uploaded the studio version, but WMG may disable it in the US.

  • THIS IS MY ALL TIME FAVORITE TOM PETTY SONG. HOWEVER, ALL OF THE VERSIONS ON YOU TUBE ARE LIVE AND THEY BARELY EVEN TOUCH THE INTENSITY AND BEAUTY OF THE LP VERSION. THS SONG APPEARS ON THE ALBUM "YOU'RE GONNA GET IT" & A COUPLE OF ANTHOLOGIES. THE ORIGINAL VERSION IS ABSOLUTELY OVER THE TOP INTENSITY, PHENOMENAL SONG STRUCTURE, AND A GUITAR BREAK THAT IS ABSOLUTLY SUPERB. THE GUITAR BREAK IS BARELY EVEN HEARD ON THE LIVE VERSIONS. CAN SOMEONE REMEDY THIS? MANY THANKS.

  • I was recording at a studio in St. Augustine Florida in '98 doing vocals and Stan Lynch walked in the control room. He's a co-owner I guess.

    Nice guy!

I think the early stuff with him is the best!

  • Yeah, they never sounded the same without Stan Lynch. Not saying better or worse, just different. As far as E street, no comparison. The Heartbreakers may very well be the best rock band ever. There are not many bands that can do rock, country and blues and do it as well as them. If you don't think they are the best then you have to admit they are the tightest. The media machine will tell you who is the best but the ears will tell you it's these guys.

  • It sounds like a Zeppelin song but which one? I forget

  • i'm 14. love them. listened to them when i was growing up till now!
