I think this was about the Spanish and Porteguese - fighting for the native peeps - and the right to Christianize them in South American - who would've thunk religious peeps back then used ugly methods to try and win them over?

Looney have you even seen the movie. It does not act as an Apologist for the Vatican at all. In fact, it shows the corruption and stuggle between the Jesuits and the slave traders with the ultimate conclusion from Irons' character (priest) that they never should have come.

Evidently, Yahweh thought of those Babylonian gods as evil. He punished the Jews many times for keeping the practices of the Baal's. Three different times, letting them be captured as slaves, because of the Baal's. The whole world is still being punished for following those same Baal gods.
And how does this holy see plan to return us to a state of purification??? By poison, plague, war, or revolution?? Or all of the above?
