I've lived and worked in and near Paoli nearly my entire life and some of my dearest friends were raised there. I am saddened though, that the vast majority of its inhabitants have absolutely no sense of the history of the town. Even the older generation seems apathetic at best about it.
The norm is just to complain about the town and how boring it is.
To unbore you :P: Something to be proud about your little town is that it was founded in 1811 by Quakers who were part of the Great Quaker Migration out of the South. This area was strongly abolitionist and even helped found a fugitive slave community, Lick Creek, approximately 3 miles south of your town. Also, did you know that the Landmark Hotel on the south side of the square was once a mineral springs resort? Does that cheer you up about where you were raised? Your town has a rich past.
I lived in Paoli back in the 1970s. The buildings look the same. Nice memories.
