I also give my consolences to her husband, Vladimir and to Ekaterina's mother. Ekaterina was an angel who came to this world to teach us all about her passion for ballet, to share with us her unique talent, her artistry. In Argentina we will miss her very much. I saw her with Vladimir in Anyuta in 1992. What a perfection! The Colon Theatre will be reopened next year on that day all of us will think of Ekaterina who danced there and gave us her magnificence.

Evdokimova + Maximova :( :(
Ballet Heaven
I have been a little bit disappointed by the little attention that the press has given to her passing. No more news about her funeral or the cause of her sudden death. It is a shame, she was such a dedicated artist and did so much for her art, she had concerned fans all over the world. Eternal repose to her soul and my condolences to her husband and mother.

This is truly a sad day for ballet because Maximova could have taken the title "prima ballerina assoluta" had she wanted it--in many ways she was the successor to the legendary Maya Plisetskaya as the #1 ballerina in the former USSR.
We are VERY fortunate that the height of Maximova's career came at the time when the Bolshoi Ballet frequently toured the West. As such, her fame is legendary to every serious balletomane.
