RAPAPORT... Sit back and enjoy the following video presentation featuring new diamond jewelry designers from the JA New York summer show. These designers are driven by passion for their craft -- and ideas for their designs come from events and observations in their daily lives.
In order of appearance, Cindy Edelstein, president of Jeweler's Resource Bureau, introduces the New Designer program for the summer show and later discusses how passion for design transcends a challenging economy.
Manya Tessler and Roumen Vragov of Manya & Roumen LLC clearly have a passion for animals in their sculptural jewelry. Nearly all of their designs have roots in the animal kingdom and each piece holds a background story that touched their lives.
Leila Tai of Leila Tai Jewelery mixes gemstones with her favorite medium: Enameling. The long and focused creation process she enjoys helps her develop movement and flexibility in these designs, which certainly adds a realistic edge to her pieces -- especially the featured praying mantis brooch described in this video.
Patricia Tschetter of Tschetter Studio says the creation process is so enjoyable that she can loose track of time spent on individual pieces. She is very much home in her workshop with metals, gemstones, and enamels. Tschetter describes making her own alloy for these featured modern and contemporary pieces that use rose cut diamonds.
Sandy Leong of Sandy Leong Jewelry calls her signature style the organic shape. She often designs in freeform and uses champange gold as a softer touch than yellow gold. Leong mixes champagne diamonds in many of these shapes and shows a stunning $250,000 necklace featuring champagne briolette diamonds.

5:09 overpriced jewelry! I rather buy the Mikimoto Miss Universe Crown for the same price.
Don't forget that the stigma of brown diamonds being reject has still lives on. 270 carats of brown diamonds? I rather have a 1 carat G-VS
