Like the other guy said, the younger kids are using lighter shots. Also, shot put just takes time. I have only been going at it for a year, so I still only do a power throw. I have managed 42 feet, but I do it as one of my events in the decathlon. I am 18 and 165 pounds. Anyway, just keep at it and, with good form, I wouldn't doubt about 50 feet by your senior year.

@chrisjohn0324 they use lighter shot puts keep doin what ur doin im a junior and i only got 35 but then again i dont throw shot as a main haha

@chrisjohn0324 DUDE being a freshman and throwing 38 FEET? Thats insane! At my school and in my division freshman throw in the 19's and low 20's! I'm a freshman and I throw 25-26 max! How can you feel bad? The VARSITY throwers in my division throw between 38-45!

This makes me feel terrible now I'm a freshman in high school and my best throw at a meet is 38ft 9in, I feel terrible now hearing all these other kids younger than me saying they are throwing 40s

@cornnellify Thanks for that tip. They are pretty flexible though, they have to be agile!

@gbburness18 you need a big base when you're shooting straight ahead.
Ulf Timmerman is the best glider for me!
