  • Things like this are why I have no interest in horse shows. Too many people seem to care more about "winning" than treating the animals with kindness and respect. Win a blue ribbon? Big deal! Got a shiny little trophy? Who cares? I have Walking Horses who are happy, loving, and super-smooth gaiting BAREFOOT. That beats all. I doubt that sored and abused horses care much at all for their "people". And they certainly don't care if they win a ridiculous ribbon or trophy.

  • It is obviously true...this happens a lot. I don't see why you leave comments that seem to justify this practice.

  • @SurprizedDaily Appreciate the kind words & I totally agree with you. Wish there were more out here looking for nothing but that natural gait. I have nobody here to help me make a video or I'd have some posted of him on my channel. I only have a colt on it that was out of him born April 2011. One day soon I hope to have some video of my stallion posted on the channel.

  • @SurprizedDaily My only point was that it is a mistake to assume that because a horse is flat shod that he cannot be under the influence of a soring agent or even be pressure shod. I wish that there were more breeders out there looking for the same traits as you stated, we would have a better breed IMO. Good luck getting some more babies out of your stallion, he sounds nice.

  • @hs1541 Thanks for the suggestions but, my horses are and have all been bred from old lineages. They all get the job done just fine. My stallion is only about 15.1 H and just so happens to have a smooth flat walk, running walk & rocking chair canter....and has enough of a flashy look for my taste. Only shame is he's only raised 2 babies. A filly & now a colt are the only 2 out of him. Shame he don't have more babies on the ground by now....I know what you're saying here. I breed for gait

  • @SurprizedDaily Dosen't matter, flat shod can be just as bad. the problem is in the breeding start breeding for a more natural gaited horse and refuse to use the flashy show stallions that are bred for use with these methods. The problem is systemic and it will take a different mind set from breeders to correct it.

  • @MrAndywheeler What about as just pleasure animals? You seem to have a very limited idea of what these horses can be used for. I will argue that the vast majority of these horses are owned by hunters, trail riders, pleasure riders and people participating in open or lower level shows. Where big lick does not exist. Hell I've even seen them do gaited dressage and EVENTING. Yes, gaited horses can jump.

  • this shit makes me so angry its a joke 2 years old what a life......the people should have diesel put on them and a match sick to go with it

  • @sandrasmituk so true!!

  • Horses should not even be allowed to be shown as a 2 year old under saddle! Same for race horses! The horse is still growing & is still a baby! It's all about the money with horses that are padded & shown!

  • @oneblackhorse I totally agree with you here 100%! I have had TWHs for the past 15+ years and Never have had any of them padded, nor would I Ever! Have never shown any of them either! Even though mine have the bloodlines and all it takes to win ribbons! I prefer TWHs for the Cadillac rides they provide, flatshod!

  • If you show, you are part of the problem. PERIOD.
