Great video and I enjoyed the steam sounds. Thanks for not putting silly music to it

@lolz976 - #1522 is owned by the Museum of Transport in Kirkwood, MO - she was leased from the museum by the now dissolved "St. Louis Steam Train Association", which operated her on these excursions. At least MoT is kind enough to put 1522 under a roof and care for her while she's on display... some park engines aren't so fortunate...
-
@FeatherWings78 - That could be the case, but the train was turned on a wye at both ends of the trip. So, perhaps the diesel also helped pulling the train through the wye - not sure, though...
-
@trainmaster844 I thought it was because after the engine returned to its destination there had to be an engine to take the consist home.
-
@FeatherWings78 - The diesel is there for H.E.P (Head-End Power) - Without it, the entire consist is left without lights, heating and air-conditioning.
-
@Barricade360 - After much deliberation with Green Bay's National Railroad Museum, 261 is now owned by Steve Sandberg and the Friends of the 261 - her overhaul is expected to be completed sometime next year.
-
so what really happened to the 261? anyone know?
-
@Barricade360 Not true at all
-
What I don't get is whats with the Diesel on the end of the train?
-
@pianomanmaestro no the high cost of insurance and stuff like that caused them to give her to the st louis musem of transportation she is now on display
It should be illegal to take an operational steam locomotive out of service except for certain situations. Things like this are slowly killing Americas past.
