With the exeception of two models which were saved (in the Citroen and Hommel collections) 18 others were probably destroyed. At least three bodyshells managed to avoid the breakers. Two were recovered by P. Pivert who after great efforts was able to rebuild one Evolution model in 1989. This car was destroyed in a crash, this car was used to build up the 2nd bodyshell, which should still be alive. The 3rd bodyshell was for sale (very discreetly) in a garage in the Paris area in 1992 !

Its true that they were ashamed of the performace of the group B ralley but logically they bought back as much of the streetlegal cars en scrapped them so they didn't have to keep manufacturing parts for the 4TC to maintain guarantee on the sold cars. Maybe I'm wrong though but that's how its written down in the Citroen history book that I have here.

It was a horrible experience for Citroen, but they did not scrap all the street-legal cars because of any embarrasment. They did that so they didn't have to keep manufacturing parts. When they started participating in the Group B ralley's they were obliged to manufacture at least 200 street legal versions of the car as those where the rules for a car to enter the Group B ralleys. When Citroen realised that the 4TC wasn't what they expected it to be they pulled the plug on the entire project.

Don´t you think the poor results and the recall had anything to do with the canceling of Group B in ´86?

I heard so to. I`m sure it was a reason why it only raced one sesson and dident win. It would be cool so see one of those cars today. Probably very rare.
