ok no when u break a pole usually ure alot deeper in than that. you really have no clue how close to dying u were. many vaulters have died by landing on there head in the box which you just barley missed! wow ... thats why pole vaulting has the highest ratio of deaths oer athlete out of any sport in the world

man, I broke a pole and the school we were at had a welfare pole vault pit -- it was actually a high jump mat....I went clean over the mat and landed in a pile of wooden crates and just missed getting a nail jabbed in my side. This was at West Unity Ohio back in 1984. It was tough being a vaulter back than as no one really cared about our safety. I hope you did not get hurt dude.

I remember vaulting on a windy day and I guess I didn't have enough momentum on up so the wind hit me and I was literally stuck up on my pole 13 ft. in the air for a good 2 seconds. I kicked my legs over the bar and made the vault :P
