Kyokushin Karate Demo from Bercy 2008

kyokushin karate (IKO1- Matsui faction) demo from the 2008 Martial art festival in the Bercy arena in Paris.

Some wood&ice breaking (Tameshiwara), padwork training and a example of fighting (Kumite) -but not the fullcontact kumite seen in competition, only light contact friendly sparring.
Previous years they have run a superfight, a real match, but this year they settled for light sparring. More spectacular techniques as the fighters don't risk a knockout and can "play around" a bit, but in my opinion it does not really show the heavy hitting heart of kyokushin.

For the "Kumite"（組手), I don't think that they are using 100% of their power...

@Eisu911 No in this demo fight they are just using light contact friendly sparring. More technique than serious intent.

@LanLanW this is only in the applied version : kumite. when you fight an oponent which is also a martial artist you fight with the most simple and efficient punches and kick : jabs and roundhouse. when you train yourself and workout for kata or for anything else, you do explore techniques much more elaborated and spectacular, but not efficient against a tough oponent. this is why in this demonstration you see just jabs and roundhouse kicks, because it is a kumite demo

i can respect karate practitioners for their power & their attitude to training / martial art, the problem for me is the limited way they explore technique & possible application, its only jabs & roundhouse kicks, surely theres more to martial art than this?
