I found a good way to get people thinking about tone (which is something many people on the spectrum struggle with), is to get them in a group together and have them read the news headlines like a newsreader and then have it played back. You'd be suprised how many people at first read the headline about a man being knifed the same way as a brilliant new brand of chocolate arriving on shelves, for example. But listening back, you kind of start to piece how it doesn't sound right and improve.
