Many friends of the outdoors like the idea to have a simple hunting weapon with them when they're backpacking. A bow and some arrows are very desirable, but then again this is bulky and heavy. This video shows Jörg Sprave's outdoor slingbow/slingshot survival bag. It contains

- A slingbow (arrow shooting slingshot)
- Three collapsible arrows
- Three razor sharp broadhead tips
- A Hunter Catapult slingshot
- Ten steel balls
- Spare bands and string
- A small multi tool for changing bands in the field

The whole bag weighs less than 3 pounds (about 1200 gramms).

The slingbow shown in this video is built around a so-called "whisker biscuit", the core of a popular arrow rest for bows. It does the job very well, but it had to be reinforced with steel in order to make it strong enough.

  • you shoulded tell us that the inventor of the slingbow is DAVE CANTERBURY.

  • @PFbigfan447 But that would be untrue. Slingbows have been around forever, lots of old patents exist, and commercial products as well.

  • ive been shooting slingbows for a while, im sure you're much more experienced but something i learned from "pathways survival school" videos are that you can replace the leather pouch with an actual piece of bow line so the arrow attaches easier. just a little piece of info take it or leave it but i see you enjoy experimenting and i was betting you could take this idea to whole new heights

  • @DJDailey You need to watch my newer slingbow videos.

  • How stable are the arrows? I was thinking of making some.

  • @PFbigfan447 Not exactly. I had slingshots that fired arrows back in the 1950's. Actually 2, of very different designs. One (aluminum ?) like a lollipop with a cross bar. The other was like a regular kids flat-band slingshot with a V-notched wire for an arrow rest. I can't remember the brands. I know in the 50's the Wrist Rocket was revolutionary and kIds fired many things with them. Whisker biscuits came much later.I'd give Dave Canterbury credit for 100 things, but not inventing this basic idea

  • @WoadWarriorX i saw daves version too, and i think how he used zip ties is how he can get away with it, by it being moveable and not hard mounted.would make it take the shock more efficiently with less chance of breaking.. just a guess though.

  • i was just commenting about the pathfinder school videos when this one showed up next in the list. i am glad i saw it before trying your design myself because i would surely have broken my first whisker biscuit with the power of your bands. i will be sure to reinforce it when i build one.

  • you must have fun with your life

  • You should have your own show on Discovery Channel and I would buy your survival-package, too^^ ( I know you do not sell your handmade things XD)

  • Joerg you are the Q of the slingshot world!
