The launch of space shuttle Discovery from NASA's Kennedy Space Center as viewed from the Banana Creek V.I.P. site about 3 and a half miles away from the pad. Discovery blasted off on STS128 for a mission to deliver experiments and supplies to the International Space Station. This launch occurred at night just seconds before midnight on August 28 2009. The sound and sights were incredible to witness in person. You can hear the main engines light followed by the an audible pop as the solid rocket boosters kick into life. Be sure to watch the high clouds as the shuttle passes through them!
Was lucky enough to view a launch from the VIP area back in the '90s...nothing else compares! Unreal!

Good question, same here.
You have to get tickets, I believe you can call your local congressmen for tickets.

One of the best night launches I have seen! I was there on the NASA Causeway 6.5 miles away from the launchpad.
