In January 2010, a 7.0 earthquake devastated Haiti. The international community, including one out of two Americans, pledged billions of dollars in aid, yet the nation has seen little improvement. Three hundred thousand died, nearly two million live in ramshackle tent cities. Cholera has swept through the population, killing thousands and hospitalizing many others. Only about 2% of the rubble has been cleared.

Is this what you expected when you pledged your aid dollars? Independent journalists Film@11.tv journeyed to Haiti in November 2010 to see the situation for themselves, and dig into the burning question: what happened to all that money?

With the money some people have got, a celebrity or a company could turn this whole situation around. They could be a true hero.

instead of sending money we should organize and arrange to send stable tents for all the people, and taking it directly to their sites, along with food and medical supplies and anything else they need, sending money never seems to work, it always ends up in the wrong pockets, what is going on, where is the humanity, and who are these vultures that profit and steal the help from these unfortunate victims, when is the true help going to begin

Well sadly your first step would be to get a group of armed people and dispose of there current government, then establish yourself a dictatorship then begin building infrastructure for a nation. The combined man power, resource, and the ethical concern of forming a dictatorship in a poor black nation...ya gona take more then a current Idol to do.

Not to be rude but clearly you don't understand what is meant by cleaning up the toilets. They don’t mean walking in and spraying Clorox. Where do you think all the waste goes? And when there is a large accumulation of that waste (that has not been suctioned or flushed out) what do you think happens? It’s not a matter of being "a sweety and wiping the seaty" it's insanitary.

@draver21 You should reach out to the organization you donated to and demand accountability. We'd like to know what happened, too--that's a very generous donation!

I heard half the money went to the US military and other big contractors as payment for their contracts in Haiti.

The American people donated billions of dollars. Like it says in the description, 1 out of every 2 Americans donated to a Haiti relief fund. If Haiti hasn't received this money, it is not because the American people did not care or did not donate. It is because the funds that were donated, which were in the billions, were misappropriated. It's almost as if that may have been the whole reason these relief funds were set up in the first place. My family gave over $20K alone.
