  • No, I don't feel robbed of anything.

  • "I KNOW with perfect faith" is still wrong.

I know the Earth is not flat because the curvature of the Earth hides far away objects, because, under Kepler's and Newton's it is a requirement, because Kepler's and Newton's provide the *only* simple elegant and accurate description of celestial motion, because I have seen pictures of Earth, because of satellite TV, cellphones, GPS, etc...

Not because I command myself *to know it*

    With perfect faith!

Don't you feel robbed of something?

  • This is just simply how it is written. Really, using the word "believe" is not what the original Hebrew really means. It is difficult to translate but it means something closer to knowing rather than what most people think of as belief.

We are told by Hashem that we are to KNOW Him and KNOW that what He says is true. Belief is part of Judaism but the knowledge and actions are more important.

  • If it is true why do you need to repeat to yourself "I belive with perfect faith" over and over as to convince yourself? Wouldn't it be better to have evidence of what you say? They you wouldn't need to tell yourself something is true, you will *actually know* something is true and *why* it is true.
