Patience is a virtue - eventually the southerly arrived and provided the chance to finally have my first flight in the Wills Wing Sports2 155! All morning the wind defied the predictions, but then the inversion lifted and the closed in area down the coast broke off and the seabreeze came in, gently at first and then stronger. This was my first flight in a double-surface intermediate glider so was just initially feeling my way. I definitely need to move my hang point forward as flying a bit close to stall and gave me a bit of rock-and-roll ride if I hit any turbulence as you will see. With the initial light winds the air traffic was heavy! I flew until late squeezing out the last of the day, and by the time we were packing up localised winds caused a bit of havoc in LZ, thanks to Big Fred and Jono for an extra set of hands and attempting to find my wing tip bag that blew away with the wind in the dark, kindly returned a few days later by Solo! Can't for the next big southerly to jump the gap and soar the cliffs down the coast :-)
A sweet and easy to fly wing - with a bit of clubbed up Gangajang!

  • So very, very cool!

  • @RideTheSky61 it was very cool to finally get into a double surface intermediate glider. Since training in a Fun190, and then buying a Fun190 of my own, I've never flown anything different. It was fantastic to feel so much more freedom and opportunity with the performance - can't wait to make the jump to Mitchells Point and a run down the coast and back....clubbed up Gangajang is pretty cool too :-) thanks for posting RideTheSky!

  • Mazel Tov on the new set of wings. Gotta love that ear-to-ear grin! Cheers, Jono

  • @NMERider thanks Jono - was a long time in the planning to get the kite here and well worth the wait - beautifully made glider with quality finish, launches easily, flies sweetly and lands gently.I was very happy for my first flight, and first flight for me in an intermediate. I wont be pushing your record on cross country flights but I'm looking forward to getting it out into the country regions and doing some cross country thermalling :-) thanks for your comment and always enjoy your vids!

  • Congratulations for your nice wing! Sport 2 has good chances to be my next glider later on...

  • @eliade66 the Falcon 3 you are flying is a great glider as my mates who have just bought them attest. I have been flying an Airborne Fun190 for a while, and it is a great Aussie made floater like the Falcon3 but didn't have the legs for the cross country flying I also enjoy and this opens more opportunity. thanks for posting Eliade66 :-)

  • @1DuneRat thanks DuneRat - the lift was light at first and then picked up, but the sky was amazing and flew for as long as I could - ended up packing up in the dark...it was great to finally try out the new toy and much appreciation :-)

  • An ethereal Stanwell day to jump into a new toy.

    Have fun Mr. A.

  • Mazel Tov on the new set of wings. Gotta love that ear-to-ear grin! Cheers, Jono
