Elvis is really good on this, but not up to the standard set by Peter, Paul, and Mary. This was one of their signature songs, just as the King's version of Kentucky Rain will never be matched.

I did not like his music when it came out , and I do not like it now. But when this guy got his draft notice, he served without complaining, and many did not. For his example in doing his duty he has my respect and my gratitude.

Thanks my friend. This one is a bit different than the original 1971(Elvis Now LP wasn't it?) without the harmonica and almost no backup vocals, is very interesting to hear. What was the title of the CD or LP this is from ? As far as I'm concerned, NOBODY BEATS ELVIS VERSION OF THIS OFTEN RECORDED SONG!!!!

all great legends have to die young [ ELVIS, HANK, JOHN LENNON ,PATSY CLINE JUST TO NAME A FEW IF THEY HAD LIVED A LONG TIME THEIR LEGACY WOULD HAVE FADED but as it is , we'll never know what else they might have done and thats a big part of what makes them great and they never get old

He is indeed - I'm in the beginning of my 20's and from the other side of the world, went to Graceland, just a few months ago.. It was incredible.. There is something about that place.. Simply got the chills, and was very touched when coming to his grave - I sat there for 30 minutes, just yeah.. He touched hearts and souls, and will continue to do so.. Long live the king !

@daveyanna Because he only was a human being darling, A human being with a very big heart ! In a world of predators that is not always a good thing ! At the same time, it is the exact reason he will always live on, so be thankful that he had a big heart that will live on, when the earth was to small for it !

@PepperWhite62 .. oh I agree with you. I'm the biggest Elvis fan and have been since i was11. Elvis has given me so much and his voice and the way he used it has helped me through many a hard time. Sometimes the anger I feel that Elvis didn't live longer bubbles to the surface. I still havne't gotten over hi death!! lol
