extended breastfeeding for dogs

Georgia is 9 weeks at the time of this film. Many pups are out to their new homes by 8 weeks. I wondered when and how mom would wean naturally, as we are keeping this girl. Noticing that Stella, mom, was starting to wean, I thought I'd better get some footage of their nursing before it was too late. Any of you parents who've nursed toddlers will be very familiar with this scene. I find that dogs go through just the same nursing phases as human babies do. Stella is now avoiding opportunities for the pup to nurse, and growling at her sometimes when she wants to nurse, but happily letting her other times.
At the end of the film, Stella gets up to check out what daddy Cephy is doing, and he defends his watermelon rind.
