Chissà se i tenori di adesso (Florez, Alvarez, Alagna, Meli, Giordani) riusciranno a debuttare un nuovo ruolo a 76 anni di età....... INCROCIAMO LE DITA!!!!!!!!!!! Grandissimo Bergonzi, una lezione di canto a 76 anni MEMORABILE!!!!!

@Nello7  This is the dress rehearsal; notice the attire of the performers. I, too, was at the public performance in the evening that Mr. Bergonzi could not finish. I doubt his claim that the air conditioning was the cause of his poor singing because he had sung at Carnegie Hall many, many times before this "Otello". He had no vocal problems on those previous occasions.

I was in attendance for this. He could not finish the performance and bowed out in the second act. It was apparent from the beginning that he would not make it through, but it was not for lack of voice due to age. The air conditioning in Carnegie Hall closed his cords (any of us singers can attest to this.) I was personally saddened for him, as this was the only one of Verdi's works he had yet to perform. There is a supposed recording of the dress rehearsal and his voice is in superb form.

Probabilmente a 76 anni ritroveranno di nuovo il 'splendore' delle loro voci...chi sa?
