They always tasted a lot more like cinnamon than apples in my opinion.

My guess is that jack shaped apple jacks were released for a very short period of time, but they turn out to be a choking hazard (as real jacks are) and the company didn't have enough money to change the logo from 'jacks' to 'loops' when they changed the cereal into a less lethal shape.

personally i believe that the pitch meeting for apple jacks when down somthing like this;

*people yipp yapping on a table* ---> monkey in suit walks in

*OOHH AH AH* ----> business man with a gay french lisp translates the uncomprehensible monkey yammer into "He says that it would be a good idea to hide monkey s**t in the cereal"....... *all the businessmen around table in awkward silence* ----> then random business man breaks silence with "OK F**k the monkey! were going with apple sex toys.
