This is a smooth tempo, 75% swing that went 300 yards down the middle with a 5 yard draw (basically straight) This is at sea level (West Coast of Canada) with no wind, temp is 18* C.

  • Beautiful tempo. Would love an explanation on what you're thinking during downswing? Which muscles do you use etc. Thanks

  • @nickbaldev1983 It really is best to NOT think during the swing, Moe Norman, the most accurate golfer in history, was so great not necessarily because of the mechanics of his swing but rather because he just looked at his target and fired, no conscious thought.

  • @nickbaldev1983 However, when you are practising on the range here are some things to try: 1) The downswing starts before the backswing finishes, while your upper body is still moving back, you push off with your right leg to get the weight onto the ball of your left foot. I can't stress the importance of improving your flexibility so you make the most of this move.

  • @nickbaldev1983 2) When the weight lands on the ball of your left foot you fire the hips and, a millisecond later, the shoulders, the goal being to get the HANDLE of the club to the ball as fast as possible, EFFORT DOES NOT EQUAL SPEED, you can do it FAST or you can do it HARD. During the transition in my swing I am invisibly transferring my weight between feet and you can do this as slowly as you want as long as the net result is an elastic stretching of the body.

  • there's no way that went 300

  • @seansanders93 What can I say? Relaxed muscles are quick muscles; if you want to slow the club down in the hitting area all you gotta do is grip the club tighter and try to muscle it out there. FYI, my club head speed during a round is 118mph, and if I quicken my tempo and accelerate my hips a little faster I can get as high as 127mph, so this drive DEFINITELY went 300 yards!! Does anyone out there have a useful comment?

  • @mr75204 Because... if I swing 100% I only gain maybe 10-20 yards, but my accuracy goes way down. There's a lesson in there somewhere.

  • 75% and 300 yards haha sure sure. Why don't you just hit it 100% and drive every green!!!
