I love Gena Rowlands. What a great actress she is! I remember her in many movies, those directed by her husband, John Cassavetes, of course, and especially one TV movie co-starring Bette Davis: STRANGERS, THE STORY OF A MOTHER AND DAUGHTER. Brilliant! And what a pleasure to watch Joan Blondell, the star of so many Warner movies of the '30s, in a serious part.
In that scene, Myrtle Gordon cannot explain why she refuses to interpret the part of Virginia in "The Second Woman". Sarah tries to interrogate her about her age. But Myrtle is haunted by the second woman in her life... "The girl who got killed"...
Gena Rowlands is absolutely wonderful in that scene. She expresses a great despair. Look at her eyes at 3.41...
