Yay Team ! Greg , you get a prize... An invite to check the Solar-Electric/Piston-Hybrid Subaru (1800 4WD Touring Wagon ) I'm driving. It's retrofitted with the 3rd Prototype SunFoil. 50% more Fuel-Efficient , burns 33% less than pre-modification. Search 'sunfoil' ; the Short-talk (Update) May 2011 clip is most recent info : it includes the Australian Gov't CSIRO Evaluation. Unpatentable. Bread-on-the-water time. DIY. Enjoy...

@killian1701 You obviously know very little about solar panels...

@GarrettKeetley . Sadly not..But if I had my way I would make Toyota have a Solar roof on ALL their Hybrid and Plug-in-hybrid cars ! ALL cars for that matter !! The less petrol (gas) cars use the better ! I would make sure ALL road transport hybrid, plug-in-hybrid and all electric cars and trucks. The sooner humankind get off it´s dependance on Oil the better ! The Peak Oil Crisis is comming !!! Me, I´m buying a Mitsubishi i MiEV as soon as possible !!

Its got to be about a 500 watt panel on that car so in bright sunlight you will get 500 watts. I could be wrong but if you think about it's a big space on that roof and a 10 watt panel fits in your hand. People who say it will just power a lightbulb don't know what they are saying.

At most, this solar array would tricklecharge a very small part of the car's battery pack. or provide pre-climate management while the car sits. this solar array would generate at most, about 2 amps @ about.. 12 volts, or all of 24 watts. it would save you next to nothing in fuel economy from altenator use. so.. really its not enough power to do much with, but, if we could slap a solar array on EVERYTHING, it would make a nice difference.

I think it's about a 500 watt solar panel, so will generate about 500 watts under strong sunlight. It is way way way more than a 24 watt panel.
