Oh, found it. Youtube won't let me post the link so if you're interested just search Nutcracker 1989 and eventually "Indian Dolls" will pop up and that's it.
The pair in this later version look like they were drinking heavily backstage.
The first time I ever saw the Bolshoi's production of the Nutcracker it was the 1989 version with Irek Mukhamedov (sp?) and Natalia Arkhipova playing the lead roles. The Arabian from that version is awesome. No unsure footing or clumsiness. Both dancers were great and their musicality and poise were far superior. I've been hunting all over youtube for that version but can't find all of it, only short sections that don't include the Arabian Dance.

The 'Arabian' looks more Balinese/Sumatran than Middle Eastern, more like Indonesian or Southeast Asian stylistically.
Different, definitely; just not my cup of tea.

THIS is the best Arabian choreography but this ballerina isn't very sure of the steps.
Not very graceful.
