I drive for Werner, Dollar General dedicated, avg. 1500 miles a week, 25¢ a mile, 5¢ safety bonus, $36 unload, $16 a stop, and all deadhead. I've taken home $700+ paychecks many times.

I started with Werner in 1983 and stayed there for almost 17 years. It was a damn good place to work back then. I've been out here since 1980 and in my professional opinion. Today it is nothing more than a good place to start your career until you get more experience. Just don't ever plan on getting anything more than a secure future in the trucking industry. If you think you'll get rich out here, you're sadly mistaken!

Yeah buddy

You are right about that! I work for them for 4 months and wow! I got out of training and they put me on the R.R Donnelley account making 19cpm with a 10cpm safety bonus! And all the loads was heavy as hell! I was making peanuts!

A werner driver ejust got stopped on speeders, a woman in a kenworth t600

I did 9 weeks in training, got my truck assigned, went Walmart detected, loved it until I started to hate it, took a leave of absence and never went back, Werner is a great company though, they gave me a job when I needed one, it was a great learning experience that builds a lot of character, man up and get it done, or just shut the fuck up!

i went right outta school to werner got trained well did and got on the account i trained on well needless to say my dispatcher sent me wrong directions to a couple of places and i counldnt find them on time i asked for new directions a couple of times on each one with plenty of time to get to where i had to be but they didnt send them to me till like 2 or 3 hours later and then i got fired b/c i had an unauthorized person in my truck whom they told me to pick up and bring back to the terminal.
Why do drivers whine and cry instead of doing something positive? Duh the economy is crappy so freight is slow. Want more miles then train students. Second duh, turnover at most trucking companies is close to 200%! That means they have to hire twice their drivers that they need every year and when freight gets slow turnover increases because whiners quit instead of doing something positive. Try not whining and bitching so much and do your job well and see what happens.

Listen, just because there are a few bad apples in the bunch, it does not mean the whole bushel is bad. Werner sure has some employees that are total idiots ( Weekend Dispatch), but all in all, the company is fair to you, as long as you are fair to them. If you work hard, do your job, and do not act like an woman with pms, then they will take great care of you. My bf is with them and home every weekend getting in on average 3000 miles a week. Why? Because he does his job without complaint!! :)
