Sure, people use slip rolls (or slip rollers) all the time to make three-dimensional sculptures, but this time sculptor Kevin Caron is feeding something more than a flat piece of steel through his slip roll. In this video, he shows how he welded together a grid of 1/4" stock, then feeds it whole into the jaws of the slip roll beast.

  • What make/model is that slip roller? What is it's capacity?

  • @jdh239 That is a Dayton 52 inch slip-roll.

It will take a sheet up to 52 inches wide and will handle 16 ga. at that width. I have rolled 1/8 inch plate about 6 inches wide with out any problem. I have also rolled 1/4 by 1/4 inch stock with out any trouble. Even rolled a 1/2 rod in to a circle with the ring roller. Got if from grainger with the stand. Don't remember how much but not bad on the price.

  • Great Vids! I just noticed your from Phoenix, I'm from Tucson. BTW, how do you like the Syncrowave 200?

  • @Brute4rce I love my 200. It has been a real solid machine. If you ever get up to Phoenix you should stop by and check out the studio. Just drop me a note before you come up.

  • wondering if you can do more videeos of the slip roll

  • @dudemancalidude I will add it to the list. Check back and I will try to post a few up.

    Thanks for asking.

  • @honeybunchickens Thanks, it has only taken 4 years to get it where it is now. Got a few more things to update yet.

    Stay tuned.....

  • you have a nice shop. I wish I had one like yours

  • @onerichartist You might get away with it for awhile. If you didn't go over maybe 3 inch wide and got a smaller slip roll. Maybe a 24 inch or an 18 inch. That would make the roller a lot stronger and less likely to bend. Whichever size you get go slow and good luck.
