The story of FILTHROCK started in September 2001 in the little town Prenzlau / Germany. Six editions of the familiar but mighty fest have taken place since then (in 2004 & 2005 the festival had a creative break). Having started in industrial halls, FILTHROCK became an Open Air event in 2006.

FILTHROCK VII in September 2009 will ring in the end of the summer festival season. Venue is an open air theatre directly at a lake in Prenzlau, which is located ca. 100 km north of Berlin and about 30 km away the Polish border near Stettin. Artists of various genres (Death, Black, Thrash Metal, Grindcore etc.) have been guests of the last festival editions: Behemoth (PL), Avulsed (E), Dark Fortress (GER), Destinity (FR), Hate (PL), Soul Demise (GER), Fleshless (CZ), Sanatorium (SK), Fleshgore (UKR), Detonation (NL), Ancient Existence (GER), Defeated Sanity (GER), Harmony Dies (GER), War From A Harlots Mouth (GER), Nebular Mystic (NOR), Omnium Gatherum (FIN) etc. Besides known bands it is a matter of importance for FILTHROCK to bring underground and unknown bands on stage which kick ass!
