Misconceptions about Gays [1/8]

Hello All,

The video speaks for itself. Now that I am entering my mid 20's life is evolving and changing for me in many ways. As a gay man I see and witness many things I really do not like. Instead of voicing my opinion to just friends and family I thought I would write down and film 7 things I feel the world should know about gay people. This is my two cents for our movement and I truly hope these videos can in some way or another help or benifit the cause for gay equality in America. We no longer deserve to be treated like second class citizens. I am over it.

In my opinion, religion is the mother of all hypocrisies. Religions tell you to love your god and fellow man, to live life like? a good person, and that God loves everyone. If God loves everyone, why is there such widespread animosity of homosexuals IN GOD'S NAME? If marriage is so sanctified, why do over 50% of them end in divorce? And why is something that encourages you to love everyone resulting in hatred and conflict? Remember when you point your finger, the other 3 are pointing back at you

I'ts great to see you getting a bit frustrated as strange as that sounds...if only because i feel most gay related youtube members focus on the ideals rather than reality, its important sometimes to focus on how things are now. It's fantastic talking about issues and raising awareness but also to inform that equality is far from achieved. Im from England and the issues you cover affect us too, your ideas are great and I hope you know you have an impact internationally, keep it up man. =D x

You know, your points are also things that many young gays try to live up to...well, except for that first one. I know a lot of gays who get all stressed about not having enough sex or wearing good clothes or WHATEVER, because so many feel the need to fit inside this homo-normative box in order to better establish themselves as gays, usually out of pride. Your video series reaches out a little further than you might think :3

@CKKRAVER I agree and disagree with you. It all goes down to the way that the actual person who depicts it and it's meaning. I am a strong Catholic but at the same I have to disagree with some of the church's views. Ironically I am bi-curious. However depending on your religious view says how sanctified it is supposed to be.

@mitiMASSACRE People are always going to act up on something they don't understand or approve of, whatever excuse they can find there going to make use of it although its getting a LITTLE better these last few years. In the UK at least anyway.

I personally don't care what people say about me. Being gay is just a fraction of my entire being. I came from the evangelical background and I can tell you, whatever scares people into their congregation to bring in the money is what is vogue. Gay being the current abomination. Yesterday it was Rock music, before that feminism before that hippies, before that, women voting, before that blacks. I'm here, I'm queer and I'm pagan. :)

@CKKRAVER Its because the bible doesn't really say all the stuff that people portray it too. For example, no where in the bible does it say GOD HATES GAYS yet many relgious ppl say that. It takes about it bein against God's will yet God still loves them. I think religion is being use as an excuse to hate on the gays

What you said about not having laws preventing hate crimes is one thing that annoys the shit out of me about America, probably more than the amount of homophobes living there. Many Americans have the idea that Europeans do not have the right to free speech. Technically this is true, but it's not as if we can't criticise the government or anything, in my country if someone publicly hates on gay people, black people, whatever, they get arrested. And honestly, I think that's a good thing.
