My 2008 V6 does it, only when cold...

it is the alternator bearing. It is no big deal. Change it only if you cant stand the noise at the rpms at real cold temps. My 2004 f150 lariat has been doing that since new and now has 130k miles. really not an issue

My ford has the problem!!! Did changing the alternator fix the problem??

I have the same frickin noise in my 04' F-150 Lariat! Did you find out what was the problem or does anyone else know what that is?

@dbn0922 I haven't found out exactly what causing this but some people i know told me it was probably the alternator rear bearing. They said it's a common problem with all F150 that have some wear. :o(
